Retrieving History

Who was where, when, and what they were up to?

Although the days of our ancestor's lives may have sifted through the hourglass of time, snippets of their stories are nestled in the papers they left behind. The purpose of this site is to distribute as much historical information in our care as possible.

Our paper trails begin in the mid-1800s. While many of the topics focus on Texas history ~ and the Christian Chruch as it emerged on the frontier ~ data is not limited to the Lone Star State or religion. The ancestors didn't have the internet but they didn't live in a vacuum!

Indexing

Since one blog isn't sufficient to cover the range of topics we've unearthed, we're using this page as our master list.

• From here, you can access topics of interest by clicking the links.

• Entries are indexed by relevant subject and, when necessary, cross indexed.

• Updates are added as quickly as we wrangle our discoveries into shape.

Scans of materials are provided for verification and to ensure longevity. Our goal, however, is to transcribe as many documents as possible - certainly all of the handwritten pages - so you can search easily.
